TECHNIQUES, APPROACHES, & METHODOLOGIES

Curiosity and preparation drive my approach to the work as an actor or writer. Beyond that, I borrow from great collaborators and learn and grow as I go.

BIO

Susan Ferrara is an award-winning actor-writer based in Manhattan. Her plays include BUZZ (director, Carrie Preston; winner of the Hidden River and Reverie Next Generation Playwriting Awards, developmental readings at Off-Broadway's Atlantic Theater Company and New York Theatre Workshop and had its world premiere at Alabama Shakespeare Festival), THE WONDER (writer/actor, directors, Julie Ann Emery and Kevin Earley; awarded Best Production/Best of the Festival at the International United Solo Festival and nominated for both the Doric Wilson Independent Playwright and William Saroyan Human Rights/Social Justice awards), THE FALL (director, Julie Ann Emery) and THE SILVER KITCHEN (director, Carrie Preston, artist-in-residence at the Actors Theatre of Louisville), among many.

"The power of Ferrara is undeniable." - Best of Off-Broadway

Susan has written three pilots, MEAN SECRETARY, FOGGIA, and HALF LIGHT. Her screenplay, adapted from her play, THE FALL (director Julie Ann Emery, starring Carrie Preston), is currently in development.

"Watching Ferrara play the emotionally drained and depressed Aline Solness was like witnessing what it must have been like to see Kim Stanley in Anton Chekhov's The Three Sisters or Laurette Taylor in Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie." - Ibsen News

Susan is a classically trained actor specializing in new play development and has originated over twenty-five new roles. Member: AEA, SAG/AFTRA, Rattlestick Theater's Actors Who Write, terraNova Groundbreakers, Actors Studio Playwriting Division
