Día de Muertos October 24-26, 2019
Día de Muertos, the Day of the Dead, is one of the most mystical celebrations in Oaxaca! Our guests will be immersed in
Day 1: WELCOME TO OAXACA
Guests arrive on Thursday and greeted at the Oaxaca International Airport by a CTC host. Guests will travel to the Ex Hacienda San Antonio by private car that includes a guided tour of the landscape and history of the region. At the Hacienda, guests will be greeted and welcomed into your luxurious accommodations.
The evening includes a magical, immersive performance event celebrating the Day of the Dead, a pre-hispanic holiday full of magic and mysticism. The event features performances of “12 Catrinas” by fashion designer Fabiola Calvo a Enjoy mole from Los Pacos, live music music, and mezcal within the enchanted setting of the ex-hacienda.
Day 2: HISTORIC CENTRO
Enjoy a leisurely first morning in Oaxaca with breakfast, exploring the hacienda, or relaxing poolside. Morning meditation and yoga will be offered. Spa services are available for an additional fee.
Midday guests will travel by luxury coach to Centro, the historic downtown Oaxaca City. Guests will choose from a variety of tour options lead by local bilingual artists and culture makers. The tour will include lunch and experiential workshops and activities.
The evening activities include a private dinner and concert under the stars at the hacienda. Dinner will feature local chefs with traditional and contemporary Oaxacan cuisine and handcrafted cocktails and beverages. Guests will be treated to an intimate concert of Bohemias Clandestina featuring a wide variety of musical expressions from Oaxaca.
Day 3: REGIONAL ADVENTURE
Start the day with breakfast at the hacienda followed by a morning departures to explore a region of Oaxaca! Guests will choose a dissertation. Each tour with be curated for our guests’ interests and will explore indigenous pre-Hispanic, traditional folklorico, and cutting edge contemporary expressions of art and culture. Each tour will feature a special lunch with local cuisine.
Or, relax and enjoy lunch at the hacienda poolside with spa services arif guests would prefer, massage, sauna, or traditional mezcal ceremony.
The evening includes a return trip to historic Centro for a series of events including a calenda (street party & parade), dinner, and a major concert event: Oaxaca Divas! Following the concert guests will have a VIP meet and greet with the artists. Guests can return to the hacienda following the concerto or stay in Centro to explore the nightlife with a bilingual host.
Day 4: HASTA LUEGO
Our final day starts with a group breakfast at the hacienda that will include a multimedia performance that includes photos and videos from the weekend. Guests will depart the hacienda for the airport in private transportation along with a gift basket featuring local artisanal products as well as personalized digital photos and videos of the weekend to enjoy and remember your experience in Oaxaca. Guests can extend their trip to experience the Day of the Dead celebrations. Extended stays can include accommodations at the ex Hacienda San Antonio or at a hotel in Oaxaca City. CTC will book additional accommodations and can provide additional bilingual hosts for the remainder of your trip for an additional fee.
